Rest home can grow

PLANNERS approved changes that will give a town centre rest home a substantial increase in size.

Officers had recommended granting permission for the enclosure of a first floor balcony at the Woodville Rest Home in Woodville Road and the erection of second floor extension.

Two letters of objection had been received saying the scheme would be out of keeping, lacks parking provision and would increase congestion in the road.

But members were advised that the highway authority supports the application subject to conditions being imposed.

Members were told that the facility is a high-dependency unit in which most residents would be incapable of driving a motor vehicle and agreed the application with little discussion.
