LEISURE centres across Wealden will fall silent for two minutes at 11am on Sunday, November 11, as the district council pays its respects to Britain s War dead.

LEISURE centres across Wealden will fall silent for two minutes at 11am on Sunday, November 11, as the district council pays its respects to Britain s War dead.

The centres are in Crow-borough, Hailsham, Heathfield and Uckfield. Council chairman Norman Buck said Remem-brance Sunday this year would be particularly poignant following the horrors in New York and Washington in September, and the subsequent loss of life in Afghanistan.

The Union flag will be flown at half mast at the council s offices in Pine Grove, Crowborough, and Vicarage Lane, Hailsham. Cllr Ian Mein will represent the district council at the Crowborough Royal British Legion s Remem-brance Service. Vice chairman of the council Cllr John Vincent will attend a Service of Remem-brance in Hailsham as the council s representative.

Cllr Buck will be acting as Standard Bearer for the Buxted branch of the Royal British Legion at the Remembrance day Service at the church of St Margaret s in Buxted.
