Record collections for Lions Club

BEXHILL Lions Club have reported record Christmas collections.

Lions Fundraising Chairman Brian Hood said that thanks to the generosity of local residents during their Christmas door to door collections, they raised over two and a half thousand pounds.

Brian said: " Local residents gave more than ever before on many of our evening collection rounds. This meant Father Christmas and his helpers collecting door to door in Bexhill, Pebsham and Sidley, together with shoppers' donations in Western Road reached a grand total of 2,524.

It's been a lot of hard work by the Lions Club Members, but the real heroes are the people of Bexhill who have yet again shown their generosity '“ a big thank you to them all."

The money raised will be used to support many local worthy causes along with special initiatives by Lions Club International.

Brian added: "Whilst we never have as much to give as we would like, the Christmas donations mean that we will start 2010 in a healthy position so we can respond positively to calls for help in the coming year '“ and we are always interested in hearing from those in Bexhill in need of support."
