READER'S PICTURE: Stolen car torched

The Ford Escort car was abandoned in Wannock Lane, near the junction of Wannock Road, Wannock.

Firefighters received three phone calls from concerned residents at 4.49am today (Thursday).

One fire engine and a five-strong crew rushed to the scene.

They found the Escort ablaze and a nearby wall, fence and trees were scorched.

A hose reel and foam was used to put the fire out.

No one was hurt.

The fire engine left the scene and returned back to base by 5.51am.

Police also attended the scene and said the car was burnt out.
