Public exhibition on housing project

A public exhibition next weekwill enable residents to meet representatives of the builders of Felpham's biggest housing estate for decades.

The display is being staged by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes between 3pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday at St Mary's Centre in Grassmere Close.

The companies will be showing their proposals for the detailed development of the 700 homes to the north of Felpham.

The proposals include the construction of the eastern section of a Bognor Regis relief road, a new primary school, community centre and junior and senior football pitches.

Financial contributions will also be made towards healthcare, sports equipment and schools.

The 133-acre site has an outline planning permission for development granted by government minister Ruth Kelly. But the detailed design and layout has yet to be submitted for approval by Arun District Council.

A spokesman for Barratt said: 'We are very keen to engage with the local community.

'The exhibition will illustrate the planned road works and infrastructure proposals, including the planned relief road.

'Even though the site already benefits from an outline planning consent, we look forward to sharing our plans with local people and obtain feedback before our detailed proposals are submitted.'
