Prince Charles meets Steyning Primary School pupils during visit to Wiston

His Royal Highness was attending a conference called ‘Reversing the Trend’ as part of the Coronation Meadows Project, which he launched last year to help reverse the loss of the UK’s meadow heritage.

After a morning spent in Battle, in East Sussex, he travelled to Wiston for the conference on biodiversity before meeting Steyning Primary School children taking part in a Countryside Classroom Chef On The Farm Day.

The nine and ten-year-olds were learning about the sheep flock, digging potatoes, picking herbs, and making lamb burgers.

Prince Charles greeted children working in three separate groups and spoke to estate staff during the tour.

He was shown around by estate manager Richard Goring and spoke to Dan Corlett, chief executive of the Farming and Countryside Education Trust, and Sara Jayne Stanes, chief executive of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, about the Countryside Classroom project.
