Police use headcam in war against crime in town

A headcam is being used by police in the fight against anti social behaviour in a residential area of Bognor Regis.

The hi-tech equipment, featured in the Observer, last December will enable an accurate record of activity around the Northcliffe and Macklin roads' estate to be gained by the police. It is one of the strategies which has been devised by police community support officers to deal with the problems in the area. In a statement, PCSO Janice Williams said several other steps would be taken to improve the situation.

Stop forms '“ which record all personal details '“ would be completed for youths.

Assistance and support would also be given to help build a shelter next to or attached to the community hut in Northcliffe Road.

A survey of residents of the area would be carried out as well to discover their views about the situation to enable the opinion of as many people as possible to be gained. Fortnightly drop-in sessions in the community hut are also being started on alternative Thursday mornings and evenings.

She reported that the area had benefited from significant reductions in crime in the past year.
