Plea for new sponsors to back Littlehampton Bonfire Night

SPONSORS are being sought to help Littlehampton’s traditional Bonfire Night go off with a bang.

The Littlehampton Bonfire Society is appealing to businesses to get involved with October’s celebration bonanza in any way they can.

The appeal comes in the face of rapidly-rising costs to stage the event, with this year’s Bonfire Night estimated to exceed £25,000 to stage.

Richard Cooper, the society’s secretary, said: “We have a number of sponsorship categories, from £50 to sponsor one of the popular steam engines in the parade to £500 to help sponsor the firework display.

“As we haven’t yet got any sponsors for the firework display we are particularly anxious to hear from any local businesses that may be able to give this level of support to the event.”

He added he was grateful to all the existing backing from many businesses who have loyally supported the celebrations over the years but said the society was keen to see new sponsors stepping forward.

Sponsorship categories include, £50 to sponsor a vintage steam engine, £100 to support prize money for the event, £250 to sponsor a marching band and £500 to back the fireworks display.

All sponsors confirmed by Monday, August 12, will be acknowledged in the Bonfire Night programme.

Forms can be obtained at David O Jones, in High Street, Littlehampton, or by calling 01903 713146.
