Media and publishing company Eljays44 Ltd created a pop-up office in Churchill Square last week to celebrate the national plants at work week, which ended on Friday.

The display was a traditional office desk packed with not-so-traditional office decorations, like plants and artificial turf.

It was hoped that the demonstration would help raise awareness of the benefits of plants in an office environment.

Lewis Dan, office manager at Eljas44, said: “You wouldn’t think that plants can help an office but they really can.

“Studies have shown that they can improve not just the productivity in an office but can reduce the time we take off sick, give us cleaner air and really reduce stress.

“I think when we were telling people this, they were really surprised by it.”

The stall attracted about 60 visitors while it was out, said Lewis.

He explained that this was the company’s first time taking part in the awareness day.

“I think it was a great success,” he added. “We had lots of people taking selfies by our display.”

He said the windy weather in the afternoon forced them to close shop prematurely.

However, despite that minor setback, he added the company would certainly be supporting the campaign again next year.
