PICTURES: American Express thanks marathon spectators for support

Brighton Marathon's community partner thanked spectators for cheering on runners and holding up colourful and vibrant signs along the course.

As community partner for the event, American Express called on spectators from across Sussex and further afield to get involved in a massive visual show of support with ‘signs of encouragement’ to help motivate runners along the route.

Beverly Sawyers, vice president of American Express, said: “This year’s event has been an amazing demonstration of the power of the Sussex community, including many of my Amex colleagues, coming together to support local charities and individual endeavour.

"A huge thank you to all the runners, volunteers and spectators who came out in their thousands to line the route and show their support.”
