Piano Festival Recitals

THE second in the brand new series of Eastbourne's St Andrew's Piano Festival Recitals, takes place on Wednesday 6th May.

Giving the recital will be the young, talented pianist, Geoffrey Paterson, playing music by Bela Bartok, Arnold Schoenberg, Ludvig van Beethoven, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel.

A wide ranging choice of composers largely from the 19th and 20th century European school.

Twenty five year old Geoffrey, who was born in Kent, read music at St John's College Cambridge and subsequently trained as a conductor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with Alasdair Mitchell, the Dartington International Summer School with Diego Masson and the Lucerne Festival Academy with Pierre Boulez.

Having studied the piano with Charles Whiffen, and the organ with Peter Nardone, Geoffrey already has had an impressive career and is kept busy working as accompanist, soloist, church organist and continuo player and, as a conductor, he has a wide range of experience which includes assisting Mark Fitz-Gerald at the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

The performance commences at 7.30pm and admission to the recital is by programme priced 5 on the door or from the Eastbourne Tourist Information Centre, Cornfield Road, from Bonners Music Superstore, Langney Road.
