A BUILDERS' access platform was extended to its full height and displayed in Blackboys this week to give villagers an idea of how tall a mobile phone mast will be if a plan from Orange is approved.

Campaigner against the plan, Mr Jeff Lyons, whose concerns featured in the Express last week, arranged for the platform to be brought to the village and be set up as close to the proposed mast site on Blackboys Nursery as it was possible to get.

'It is a very big platform but not as tall as the mast will be - we just wanted people to get an idea of how high it would be in relation to the trees,' said Mr Lyons. He added that people reacted as he had expected them to, with shock.

The campaigners are now preparing to go before Wealden Council's development control north sub-committee to speak out against the plans for the 20 metre high mast which would be disguised as a tree.
