Pett Village Hall Management Committee is holding its AGM at Pett Village Hall on Monday May 13 at 7:30pm. This is an opportunity for residents to have their say regarding the Village Hall and feedback is also welcomed from hall users. This year’s meeting is particularly important, given the essential repairs necessary for the hall and the need to raise funds for this.

Also on Monday May 13 the Village Choir meets at 7:30pm in Pett Methodist Chapel. It would be much appreciated if former members, who do not intend to come again, would return their music copies. Please return to Wendy, Pauline or to another member.

POPP on Tuesday May 14 features JJ Fashions. The session runs from 10:30am to 2:30pm and will include a two-course lunch for just £5.

The Mobile Library will be in Pett and Pett Level on Wednesday May 15. It will start at the Church at 10.10am, moving on to Chick Hill at 10:50am and finishing at The Smuggler at 11.20am.

On Friday May 17 Pett WI is holding its Resolution Meeting. May is the month for voting for the Annual Resolutions, for which the WI is well known. Each year WI members put forward issues as ‘resolutions’ that they want to see the national body campaign on. The process ensures that every WI member has the opportunity to set the direction of the NFWI campaigns and policy, from the grassroots up. This year’s resolution concerns keeping the High Street alive. There will also be a Bring & Buy sale

Pett WI meets on the third Friday of every month at Pett Village Hall at 2:30pm and new members are always welcome.

The Rye and Winchelsea Rotary Club is holding the 15th Annual Walk on Sunday May 19. It starts between 9 and 10am and will be a countryside ramble over farmlands, skirting the Ancient Town of Winchelsea and into the Brede Valley to Icklesham and drinks at the village hall. The walk continues down to the Military Canal and back to Rye via Camber Castle.

The walk is in aid of local charities including St Michael’s Hospice and the League of Friends of Rye & Winchelsea Memorial Hospital. All walkers will receive a completion certificate and there will be awards for both the team and the family with the most sponsorship, as well as trophies for the walkers with the most sponsorship. Anyone interested in taking part can register by email to [email protected] or on the day.
