Church Services on Sunday July 13 – Sea Sunday, St Nicholas, Pett Level at 10:30am. For some years Pett Church has been sharing this service with the Methodists on the beach by the Rescue Boat House. It is a great place to hold an outdoor service and this year it will be shared not only with the Methodists but also the Fairlight congregation and the children of the Uniformed Organisations will be joining in.

As always the collection will be donated to The Mission to Seafarers- a world-wide organisation supporting and helping seafarers, who are often away from home for many months at a time. Please come along and bring a chair, as deck chairs are not provided!

On Monday July 14 the Village Choir will meet again at 7:30pm in Pett Methodist Chapel.

POPP on Tuesday July 15 will be having a Games Day! The session runs from 10:30am to 2:30pm and will include a two-course lunch for just £5.

Also on Tuesday July 15 Pett Parish Council will meet in Pett Village Hall at 7:30pm. The meeting will also include a talk from the Rother Emergency Planning Officer so if you have any questions on planning issues, why not come along?

On Friday July 18 Pett WI will welcome another local speaker. This time it will be John Taylor who will be talking about the History of Pett. Many readers will remember that John wrote a book some years ago, ‘Pett in Sussex’, so his talk is bound to be interesting and informative.

Visitors are always welcome at the meeting, which starts at 2:30pm at Pett Village Hall and, as always, a delicious tea will follow the talk.

And John will have a busy day on Friday July 8, as he is also the speaker at the meeting of the Pett Naturalist Society, with a talk entitled ‘Wasps or Do We All Sting?’ Meetings start at 7:30 pm at Pett Village Hall and visitors can come along for just £2.

You are all invited to the Pett Level Preservation Trust Annual Summer Lunch. It will be held in the garden of The White House at Pett Level on Saturday July 19, starting at 12:30pm. Tickets cost £10 and include drinks as well as a main course and pudding.

For those unfamiliar with the PLPT, it was formed 41 years ago in order to buy 18 acres of land at Pett Level, which was about to be sold in lots for dwellings, caravans and amusements. The purchase price was raised by a lot of local generosity. The Trust now owns about 24 acres and has to maintain the land for the benefit of the public and to nurture wildlife.
