Zoom helps keep Horsham Arun Probus Club members in touch

Horsham Arun Probus Club members are using social media platforms including Zoom to stay in touch SUS-200420-153755001

The president and vice president have applied their IT expertise and set members up on Zoom – which has a dedicated video conferencing facility – so the club’s face-to-face gatherings can continue.

Social media is being used for day-to-day chats, and sharing information between members and video conferencing is being used for coffee mornings at 10.30am – which are proving very popular – and for regular meetings of the whole club.

Last Thursday, the president hosted the regular monthly club meeting which was attended by some 30 members.

Club member Howard Malleson said: “As usual, the meeting was completed by a talk from a guest speaker. On this occasion, the speaker was a club member who told us all about the Cold War Early Warning Station at Fylingdales.

“He illustrated his talk with many pictures of the station and its operations.

“The talk was given a real authentic touch because he was personally associated with the station and its operations for 30 years.

“The club expects social media and video conferencing to play a growing part in its affairs for some months to come. IT has shown it has a real role for the club in keeping members in touch with one another, entertained and being able to support each other.
