The two and half minute long film is the brainchild of Fountain Digital Ltd and Smokescreen Visuals who have joined forces during the COVID-19 epidemic to create a film showing, they say, ‘just how amazing our Eastbourne nurses and carers are’.

The two companies, and Eastbourne Connect, are hoping to raise £10,000 for the local community supporting the NHS and Eastbourne charities such as St Wilfrid’s Hospice and Eastbourne Foodbank.

Danny Hazlegrove at Fountain Digital said, “When the pandemic started we created a support group for likeminded business people to support each during these hard times. From this Eastbourne Connect was formed in which businesses can join and we will raise as much money as we can by making donations back to our local community like St Wilfrid’s Hospice, the Foodbank and DGH.

“Myself and Matt Derbyshire at Smokescreen Visuals came up with an idea to create a short film of our amazing NHS and community and emergency services and after a lot of hard work and determination we made this happen over a three week period and the results are amazing.

“The world famous composer Ivan Torrent gave us personal permission to use his amazing soundtrack Glimmer of Hope on the short film.”

Matt Derbyshire said, “It was an absolute pleasure to create – they are all heroes. While being on lockdown and no work coming in, the best way to keep ‘working’ was to create the film from the ground up.

“So I wrote a small script and this included the nurse putting on her PPE in a hospital setting to create a story and get the viewers to really identify with her. Understandably it took a lot of jumping through hoops and permissions.

“Another massive plus was the music by international film composer Ivan Torrent. He gave his blessing after I sent through a pre-release draft and he said he would be honoured to have his music on the film.”

The video has been released on Facebook and a donation page has a £10,000 target.
