Plans submitted to buy parts of A27 land near Eastbourne

A compulsory purchase order has been made to buy land next to the A27 near Eastbourne as part of Highways England’s improvement scheme.

The order, which came into effect when the public notice was published today (February 28), was submitted by Highways England with the view to improve the busy single carriageway road.

Land near to the Berwick and Polegate junctions will be purchased.

A copy of the order, which outlines the specific parts of the purchased land, has been made available during office hours until April 3 at East Sussex County Council’s headquarters, Lewes District Council’s headquarters, Lewes Library, Berwick Post Office and Polegate town council headquarters.

The notice states that anyone who would like to challenge the order has six weeks to do so by making an application to the High Court.
