Youngsters at Chailey Heritage Foundation celebrated the end of the term with fantastic festive events.

These took place at the charity’s home on the border of Mid Sussex and included a Polar Express sensory experience, a puppet performance by Christmas For Kids and dancing staged by Singing Hands.

Other events were: ‘12 Days of Christmas’ Makaton-style, Santa’s visit to St Martin’s department, plays, a sensory Nativity adventure, a Peter Pan pantomime and wreath-making.

Simon Yates, the headteacher at the school for those with complex disabilties, said: “You could see from the many smiling faces that everyone had a great rewarding time. The Polar Express experience was a particular highlight where the conductor came round to stamp their tickets and they were off on the train to the North Pole. The pupils enjoyed hot chocolate and refreshments, as well as feeling the cold, crisp snow and experiencing the Northern Lights.

“Finally, they arrived and gathered around the Christmas Tree to listen to Christmas music.”
