He has already walked from West Wittering to Sheerness, tackling the journey in stages over the course of six weeks.

On July 6 he returned to West Wittering to start the second leg of his 5,500 mile walk, following the Solent Way. Despite the heat, Tom was able to cover 110 miles in six days. He was joined en route by members of Southbourne Lions Club and New Milton Lions Club.

Tom commented: “People are showing a real interest in the coastal walk, Lions Clubs International and LIBRA.

“The response has been fantastic and I am so grateful to everyone who has provided support. Policemen, restaurant managers and pub landlords have taken leaflets to share with their colleagues.

“My walking companions were super and we encouraged each other along, especially on the last day when there was a particularly long stretch between Boscombe and Sandbanks.”
