Amazing Worthing mum celebrates 102nd birthday

Jeannette Wishart still lives in her own flat on the seafront, near her only child, Sheila Marchant-Webb.

Sheila said: “My mother had an excellent 102nd birthday, chatting on the phone and via FaceTime to grandchildren and nephews. I see her every day, as she doesn’t have carers. She does everything herself and she always looks impeccable.

“She is an amazing lady. She spent many years living in the Middle East in the 1940s and 1950s and when she lived in Dubai, she was the only European lady living there.”

Jeannette was born in London on May 17, 1918, and has lived in many different places, including Rustington. Her husband worked for Iraq Petroleum Company.

Sheila said: “It was incredible, the life she led. I used to go out there from boarding school. There was nothing there.”
