Nine-year-old Shay Osborne, who lives in Stockbridge Gardens, Donnington, initially planned to cycle 70k in seven days, but was so overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and support that he decided to continue riding a minimum of 10k every day while donations are still coming in for NHS Charities Together.

Shay’s mum, Amy Osoborne, said: “He has been watching the daily news and updates on Covid-19 and realises the danger and sacrifices NHS workers are putting themselves in to help others.

“He has been inspired by Captain Tom Moore and many others in our local area and decided he wanted to do something to say thank you to them and show his support.”
