• Don’t forget the Charity Boot Fair at Jempsons this Bank Holiday Monday! Lots of bargains and all in a good cause.

• This year’s Rye and Winchelsea Rotary Club Walk will take place on Sunday May 19, starting from 9am to 10am from Phillips and Stubbs, Cinque Ports Street, Rye. This annual walk is in aid of local charities including St Michael’s Hospice and League of Friends of Rye and Winchelsea Memorial Hospital. The walk is a countryside ramble over farmlands skirting Winchelsea, into the Brede valley to Icklesham (drinks at the Village Hall) then down to the Military Canal and back to Rye via Camber Castle.

• On Wednesday May 15, 2.30pm at Ferry Road Health Centre the Patient Participation Group of the Ferry Road Health Centre are holding an event ‘A talk by Larri Hayhurst, R.N. on Advance Care Directive.’ All are welcome.

Peasmarsh Bowls Club news from Joyce: Our new season started on Tuesday April 23; our best wishes go out to the Ladies and Mixed teams. On Saturday 27 we had a get together and the team had a practice game. Match reports are in the Sports section.
