Peasmarsh

Our new hall has been nominated for an award from the Sussex Heritage Trust! Chairman Grey Metcalf and architect Dominic Manning will be attending a special dinner on July 3 when the winners of these awards will be announced.

Julie Fletcher from ‘Zumba’ has booked the hall for a Saturday workshop on July 12, 11am - 12pm. This fitness programme is called Fitsteps and is part of “Strictly Come Dancing” so includes learning waltz/paso doble/cha cha/quickstep/jive and rumba as a fitness programme so no partners are required. The session costs £4, please contact Julie at [email protected] for more information.

The Hall Committee would like to make it clear that Monday’s Lunch Club is open to all ages, and any mothers with young children who would like to attend and have children’s meals arranged can do so (we do expect them to accompany their children!) Call Jenny on 230324 to discuss this. After June 30 (menu on the website www.peasmarshmh.org.uk) there will be a short break and then lunches will continue irregularly during the summer holidays. Dates for these will be advertised on the website and in this column.

The Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival which ran from Thursday to Sunday last week has been an outstanding success this year. We are indeed fortunate that Anthony Marwood and Richard Lester and the PCMF Trust ensure the continuation of this annual explosion of outstanding music from internationally acclaimed musicians in our beautiful church, accompanied by excellent food and drink, and, this year, glorious weather. For those who plan well ahead, festival dates for 2015 are June 25 – 28.

This Sunday there will be a Family Service at Beckley church at 10am. The Barleycorns (our little group of primary school children from both villages) will be leading the singing and opening the service with their handbells and it would be lovely to have more families from Peasmarsh present.
