We need a parking permit scheme in Eastbourne’s Sovereign Harbour

I sincerely hope that it will be possible to introduce a parking permit scheme with some provision for pay to park on-street spaces, in and around White Point/Dominica Court, Sovereign Harbour.

All too often we see vehicles parked inconsiderately on pavements and on corners.

In the latest incident (Friday, May 7) four Lycra-clad male cyclists parked their one vehicle in one of those places and proceeded to unload their bikes from the back of it.

These guys appeared to be breaking the lockdown rules by being a group of friends.

When politely asked if they could move their car to a more suitable place to avoid causing potential problems for others, the backchat was, shall we say, “interesting”.

Clearly, the current situation regarding parking does not serve the best interests of concerned local residents; stronger measures might.
