WHERE was your reviewer at Battle Choral Society’s breath-taking performance of Verdi’s Requiem at Christ Church last Saturday (May 21) - in the crypt?
There was no mention of the intensity and brilliance of their performance and of the stunned reaction of the audience to this quite remarkable concert by an extremely fine choir, wonderful soloists and magnificent orchestra.
Unfortunately it was left to a contributor to the Letters page to comment on just how fabulous the evening was and to another to remind us that great concerts like this don’t just happen, they need support from businesses and the wider community.
It was a completely full house and I, like many hundreds of others, left feeling that I’d experienced something pretty wonderful - more please.
