Petition against Lancing rail ticket office closure is misleading

I felt it only right to point out to those who have signed the petition that it miss-represents the proposal.
It states “The existing ticket machines are frequently out of order so there will be no means of purchasing a ticket before boarding a train if the ticket offices close, whilst any closure means there will be no point of information or assistance for passengers with disability or mobility problems”.

There is a proposal to close the ticket office, however in its place Southern Rail propose having Customer Hosts on the platforms able to issue tickets and provide information and assistance to customers from first service to last. Now don’t get me wrong as a regular user I know there is much improvement needed in the service Southern Rail provides but this change seems like a sensible move into the 21 century which is something Lancing needs to embrace rather than clinging to the past.
