Perhaps they are trying to fool all of the people all of the time

SEVERAL of your correspondents on many occasions refer to "democracy" and "the expenditure of taxpayers' money", when it has been obvious that New Labour's attitudes towards the electorate are far from being sincerely concerned with democratic procedures, or with the conservation of public monies.

Of course, the proposed Eco-Town will spread beyond the aerodrome site, swallowing Yapton, Bilsham, and other scenic and vital agricultural parts of the country along the A259 as far as Shripney and Flansham.

I hope the plans include hospitals, police stations, and secure prisons, but fear the worst.

I also note that a new phrase has been invented: in addition to "affordable housing", and "realising their potential", we now have "knowledge-based" industries. I wonder if these will ease the balance of payments deficits.

Personally, I have never subscribed to the climate-change theory, believing this to be similar to the panic caused by an acorn hitting Chicken-Licken on her head, and that this natural occurrence must have happened before, especially when considering for 100 years or more, millions of tons of coal were consumed by households and heavy industry throughout this country alone, as well as the growing use of mechanical transport during wars.

One just has to recall the dense fogs in the cities; that it was in April, 1912 that the "Titanic" struck an iceberg in the Atlantic; and give additional thought to the huge amounts of carbon dioxide currently released from countless bottles and cans of beer and soft drinks.

I'm afraid that politicians and their stooges nowadays open their mouths before their brains (?) are engaged.
