LETTER: Evolution is proven scientific fact
I read Steve Fishpool’s Thought with interest. I certainly agree that we live in a beautiful world and Sussex is a fine example of that.
However he seems confused! Evolution is a proven scientific fact whereas the idea of creation (or intelligent design) is merely a fanciful theory. Indeed there is no evidence whatsoever to support the existance of the God to which he refers.
Religion has done much good but also caused so many problems. If it were as simple as he suggests why are there over 300 different Christian sects and three very different monotheistic religions all at loggerheads with each other?
Let us all base our lives on facts and evidence, and not suppositions.
