Excuse for ignoring people’s choice

The excuse made by Rother for ignoring the names suggested for the HBLR by Observer readers (including mine) in favour of their own predetermined choice (Combe Haven Way) because, they say, it will be more easily recognised by the Emergency Services, is pathetic, and for two main reasons: 1. It infers that Emergency Service staff are incompetent, which they are not; they have to identify many far more difficult road names in the course of duty. 2. In due course, this link road will be given a number (e.g. A213). so its name, for emergency purposes, will be irrelevant.
