Bag it and bin it!

OH, how I agree with the comments made by B. Harding (Gazette letters, November 17).

As they rightly say, responsible dog owners will always clear up after their dogs, irresponsible owners will take no notice of any requests or notices. Like her, my husband and daughter take the dogs out with an ample supply of poo bags. My one word of caution would be in challenging some of these alleged dog lovers.

There was the incident in Rustington recently when a gentleman ended up with a broken ankle.

My husband had a similar incident on the beach in Littlehampton. Whilst he was walking our two dogs, a couple walked towards them with two dogs, one on a lead and one not.

The dog not on the lead attacked one of ours and broke the skin on his face.

My husband suggested to the owner that if the dog was liable to attack another perhaps he should keep it on a lead.

The response was “You don’t tell me what to do.” My husband was then punched in the face and knocked to the ground. His injuries were severe bruising to his leg from top to bottom and several weeks of extreme discomfort.

Did he report it? No! Why? because he was concerned what would happen to the dog if the owner was apprehended.

I am a great believer that there are few bad dogs but a lot of bad owners. So, beware who you challenge!
