An Elephantastic portrait from artist

Renowned local artist Claire Phillips has revealed her finished design for this summer’s Elephantastic Trail in Horsham.

The elephant, called Reclaiming Childhood, counts among one of the most unusual paintings Claire has tackled.

She has previously created images of Charles Wheeler, Boris Johnson, politicians, convicts on Death Row and child workers in India.

Claire undertook the painting in her Partridge Green studio for the Friends of Horsham Museum.

The Elephant will be stabled at Horsham District Council’s Horsham Museum & Art Gallery over the summer

This Summer’s amazing community event in and around Horsham Town has been originated and organised by the Rotary Club of Horsham. There are 128 organisations that own one or more elephants; 65 local Charities associated with these elephants and countless schools, artists, and volunteers involved in making it happen. 

Elephantastic will be launched on Sunday 26th July by Brian Blessed in the Carfax between 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Trails will open on the 27 July and run though until 31 August.
