LETTER: Scheme to save the cottages

I enjoyed David Arnold's piece on the Cuckmere Valley (Express, July 29) and, in the same edition, another Cuckmere picture - Alan Clark's shot of the Coastguard Cottages.

Each year thousands of visitors (along with many more who have seen this view in countless films and advertisements) experience this amazing view of the Coastguard Cottages framed by The Seven Sisters.

Those historic cottages and the immediate downland around them may not survive winter storms much longer and no government money is now available to help preserve this iconic site.

Due to public encouragement, a registered charity has been set up inviting contributions to enable longer-term sea defence work to be carried out.
