LETTER: Litter poses a fire hazard

After many weeks of work it is good to see the completed taxi stand beside the railway station with a nicely paved area and also a designated drop-off area for bus passengers.

However, some attention needs to be paid to the amount of litter which has accumulated at the end of platform one. It just needs someone to throw a cigarette through the bars and start a fire , and there would be plenty of fuel! At the far end of the car park several years ago there were two adjacent billboards. Both were damaged in a storm one night, one fell completely and was removed, and the other has been left standing with a broken frame, and has lost it`s identity mark. It needs either to be repaired or be removed. It is an eyesore ,to put it mildly.

I was horrified to see the amount of litter which had accumulated beside the railings at the far end of the car park, and not a litter bin in sight, although railway staff can frequently be seen collecting the litter.
