As she gripped the steering wheel, Julie’s knuckles turned as white as the snowflakes dancing across the windscreen. What was she doing here? The car behind was so close.
If she slowed, they would collide. She hadn’t meant to leave the way she did. It had all got out of proportion.

Hide AdLights flashed behind her. A lay-by appeared. Urgently she flipped the indicator. The car behind followed as she came to a halt. A dark figure appeared at her window.
“Mrs Green, I’ve been trying to stop you,” shouted the young man, “you left your credit card at the supermarket.”
