Ninfield & Hooe - August 1

ARTHRITIS Research Campaign: The current spell of beautiful weather benefited the ARC Summer Lunch last Saturday.

Everyone enjoyed the lunch and were generous in both the purchases from the bring and buy and raffle tickets. The atmosphere was good, the location absolutely stunning. Jenny, from ARC ,thanked Pete and Carol, for opening their lovely home and garden, and members of the local committee. Ann thanks all the helpers and is grateful for the support of those attending. I hope to hear from treasurer Trevor so I can tell you how financially successful the day was too.

FLOWER FESTIVAL: Needless to say the talented flower arrangers from Ninfield Flower Group did it again! Ninfield Methodist Church and Church Hall were transformed by the 17 arrangements depicting songs with a colour in the title. The programme listed the song title together with the arranger's name from Lily The Pink, Green Green Grass Of Home, Lady In Red, White Cliffs Of Dover, Silence Is Golden, Red Sails In The Sunset, Green Onions, Purple People Eater, Lavender Blue, Orange Blossom Special, Tie A Yellow Ribbon, Colours Of The Rainbow, White Christmas, Purple Medley and Over The Rainbow.

Saturday was President's Day, an in-house match day, the Roundheads were the victors, the Cavaliers accepted defeat with grace. The President was given a beautiful lily plant after presenting medals to the winning team members.

To add to the enjoyment of the day, the sun had shone exceeding warmly throughout and there was a barbecue! Geoff, the chairman and Brian, the captain did the cooking, boy, was it hot for them.

They were repaid by the appreciation shown by the club members as they enjoyed their meals. The ladies had also contributed to a delicious meal, the desserts were weight threatening.

I may have mentioned before that the members are wonderfully friendly and a pleasure to be with, I am so glad I was there too.
