Keeping the Faith!: And the Positivity...just...! Crikey, it's hard work sometimes, and seemingly so much easier to be negative! It takes fewer muscles to smile, than frown...so less '˜lines on the face'.. and therefore less money spent on anti-wrinkle cream...! This '˜Pollyanna Poppins', once again, is despairing of Social Media - the comments that get flung up into the ether, in perpetuity - with no thought or care as to how they will be received back on earth by the poor mortals that are just trying their best..! Aaargh! Anyway, a '˜Good Thing' is that stunning Sparke Pavilion, on Ninfield Recreation Ground is nearly, absolutely completed, and the last bits will be finished in a '˜topping out' type ceremony with a Weather Vane being placed on the tower. And! - there is going to be a new Ninfield Village Football Club - Hooray! A fantastically up-beat group of young chaps who are really keen to get a new team up and running, their enthusiasm was brilliant, and gave us hope! So, remember, all is never lost! The glass remains half full! And, on that note...

Ninfield Parish- WDC Local Plan Update: The much anticipated release of the Draft Plan from Wealden District Council came to fruition late on Friday 3rd afternoon. The Parish Councillors were given the heads up on the evening before; at the P.C meeting, and a sleepless night followed as we all waited to see if the proposed Housing figures for Ninfield had been reduced and/or if the village had been re-categorised. The new document is 600 pages long, will take time to read and evaluate properly, and will be put forward for a last, brief consultation from the end of this month; there is a section specifically on Ninfield; pages 299-311, and these have been scanned and put onto the Ninfield Parish website for all to read, along with a statement from the Parish Council. To quote that old adage.. ‘there is good news and bad news’... but, in basically, the site allocations have been whittled down to one- from the 6 in the Issues and Options document; and there is a new boundary, drawn tightly round Ninfield, but which adds in this new site that could take a build of up to 85 dwellings. The figure for Ninfield in WDC’s I&O was 250 houses, incorporating the Ingrams site of 55; and, although there is still a question as to how the new figures are finally equated, the figure of 85, added to those passed at the Ingrams site, Potmans Lane and Moons Hill would total 156 over the period of the plan...nearly 100 less. The categorisations have also been updated and although Ninfield is still classed as a ‘sustainable settlement’, this now means Large Village type 2. It really is best to read through all the pages dedicated to Ninfield, then try the whole document if you dare! The Parish Council will wait until all the documents are fully digested before issuing further comment or statement, but will answer questions if you have them, to the best of their ability.

Ninfield Flower Group: Saturday 11th March, at Ninfield Memorial Hall, the Flower Group will be holding one of their fabulous Jumble Sales - doors open at 2pm with an entry fee of just 50p. There will be loads of bargains, and also some light refreshments, plus a cake stall, to keep your energy up while you browse! Ninfield Horticultural Society: Another plug for the two events coming up- Monday 20th March at the Memorial Hall, 7.30pm, the Society will have speaker Sally Berkley, who will give a fascinating talk on the Victorian Kitchen Garden- new members and visitors are always very welcome! Then, Saturday 25th March in the Memorial Hall, it’s the Annual Spring Show and the schedules are available from the Village Stores in Lower Street. There are lots of different categories to choose from - there are Handicraft, Floral Art, and Photographic classes as well as those for wonderful Spring Blooms. All entries are very welcome, especially those from ‘newbies’ to the show! The Hall will be open to the public for those who want to see all the displays from 2.30pm, and there will be tea/coffee and home made cakes available. Ninfield Village Society: Thanks to Robin Goldsmith and Lynn Denton for the following...! The Village Society will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Thursday 23rd March from 7pm in the Methodist Hall, Church Lane. There will be a brief report on the work undertaken during the past year in both Church Wood and around the Village. Everyone is welcome to attend, and the Society would love to recruit some new members who have an interest in maintaining the high standards set in the upkeep of the village...Membership costs only £2 for the year!! Following a short break for refreshments, the Society have enlisted their old friend,

Early Heads Up!: As I said last week, there are some events that need an advance notice, and a prime example is this one- the Memorial Hall Quiz Night! It will be held on Saturday 22nd April, from 6.30pm and tables of 6 are invited to attend! The cost will be £6 per head to include a ploughman’s supper, and everyone is asked to bring their own nibbles, condiments, drinks, and a suitable glass! If you can’t get a full table please go along anyway as tables can be made up on the night, and all will be welcome to help raise much needed funds for the ongoing refurb. of the Hall. It’s a great evening of fun and quizzing, with Jan and Martin Wood once again organising all the questions. Get the Ginko Biloba started, pore over the encyclopediae...and book your table now!
