New chairman for art group

A change of chairman at Felpham Art Group has seen Brenda Thompson stand down after five years of hard work.

Brenda handed over the role to Terry Collins at the annual meeting of the group.

Members were sad to lose the dedication of Brenda from the role, but were glad she would continue her support as a club member.

She was presented with a picture by Roger Billington which she had long admired.

The presentation was carried out by Terry. He went on to outline his plans for the group to give everyone hope of a successful bright future.

Further presentations saw trophies handed to the winners of the various categories at the summer exhibition held by the group.

Gifts to Fred Brock, the group treasurer, and two other selfless helpers, completed the ceremonies.

Mr Brock had earlier told the good attendance at the meeting the previous year had been poorer than 2008.

This was because the spring show had to be cancelled after the venue in Arundel was flooded.

Bad weather also put paid to two of the regular exhibitions along Felpham seafront.
