Netherfield Church - Unfortunately there was a mix up over the dates that Mountfield church will be closed – April rather than March, so the panic to re-schedule services was not necessary.

The services this month will be as the usual schedule and are as follows: This Sunday March 18, Mothering Sunday, is a joint service of Holy Communion at Mountfield and the final service on March 25 is another joint Holy Communion at Netherfield. All services are at 10 am and will be advertised here and on church notice boards. Looking ahead to April, I can confirm the first Sunday will not be a Family Service because it is Palm Sunday. This will be a joint Holy Communion with Mountfield at Netherfield. The next Sunday is Easter and this will be celebrated at Netherfield with Mountfield joining us. Services thereafter will all be at Netherfield while the building work is completed at Mountfield. I trust this is clear and again advise you check here each week or on notice boards at the churches.

I am very pleased to be able to now report that we have been successful in obtaining a grant for some of the cost of replacing our boiler. Before I give details, I have to give my thanks and that of the PCC, to Peter Sutton for his work in obtaining the funding. Peter has over the years been successful in getting huge sums of money for us by completing grant applications and once again he has been successful. Awards for All, part of the Big Lottery Fund, have been good enough to grant us £8,000 towards the cost of our new boiler. This is predominantly because we make use of the dedicated social area in the church for functions that are open to all in the area to take part in. This obviously is for the greater good of our community and not just for those who attend church services. It is a really significant result for us as it means that the grant, plus all the recent fund raising events, have paid for the work in full so a huge thank you to everyone who has supported our events. Our church is operational and solvent, a good position to be in early in the year. Paul Smith Church Warden.
