MARKET TO BEAT ROADWORKS

THERE will be a farmers' market in the Lewes pedestrian precinct next month '“ despite major road works going on there.

Manager Tina Deubert said: 'Last week I discovered the work would be going on for a couple of months and couldn't imagine how the market could take place in the precinct.

'After a few frantic phone calls and searching for possible alternative venues, I met with the site manager in the precinct and he has agreed to make sure that most of the precinct will be available on October 1 which means that we will be able to hold the market there as usual.

'Many stalls may not be in their usual places. We need our customers to be very patient and look around carefully for their favourite stalls, they will be there but people might need to look a bit harder.

The farmers' market takes place on October 1 from 9am to 1pm.
