THE Gazette would like to thank all our “friends” for their active support of our social networking site with Facebook.

We’ve been so popular that, on Thursday we reached our maximum limit of 5,000 friends, prompting us to upgrade our Facebook profile to a fans’ page, to avoid being closed down.

After a few minor blips, we’re back on track and hoping to maintain the momentum. We are now appealing to all our readers to become “likers” of our new page.

It’s easy enough to do. Simply search for us on Facebook, and click on the “like” button at the top of our page. This will give you access to our page and the chance to have your say about the breaking news and stories that affect you.

We hope to involve our Facebook community even more in producing stories for the paper.

In the coming weeks, we are hoping to include a section giving our Facebook followers the opportunity to comment on the hot issues in the news, and we will be launching a special monthly feature with your Facebook photo uploads.
