The iconic sugar-free pure lemon juice brand PLj, based in the village, has joined forces with the charities ‘Know Your Lemons’ and Tenovus Cancer Care to create awareness about the 12 signs of breast cancer through a striking image of lemons in an egg box.

The illustration, representing different possible symptoms of breast cancer,is being carried in an awareness-raising booklet on the necks of over 100,000 bottles of PLj lemon juice, currently in supermarkets and health food shops across the country.

It is also being featured on Plj funded posters - carrying a helpline number - which the company hopes to spread throughout GP surgeries UK-wide.

Plj was first launched in the 1950s, primarily as a sugar-free drink that could aid a calorie-controlled diet.

Cliff Moss, MD for Billingshurst based Healthy Food Brands, the manufacturers and distributors of PLj, said: “We’re honoured that PLj, an iconic, healthy, heritage lemon juice brand, is partnering with two such amazing charities, in creating awareness of the signs of breast cancer, a campaign which literally saves lives.”

Sussex healthcare professionals who can help PLj spread the word with their posters are asked to contact them via the weblink https://www.healthyfoodbrands.co.uk/know-your-lemons
