Louts damage 16 cars

LOUTS left a trail of damage to 16 cars in South Street and Cliffe High Street, Lewes, when they went on a 'karate kicking' spree.

Residents faced a repair bill running into hundreds of pounds after the attack which happened at about 10.30pm on Thursday last week.

A brave female witness was able to supply police with vital evidence when she followed the men despite being verbally threatened by the pair.

A police spokesman said the men were aiming karate kicks at the wing mirrors as they walked along. 'Every single one of them will cost at least 100 to repair. The inner mechanism in these mirrors is quite expensive to mend.'

Officers now want to hear from anyone else who saw the wrecking spree.

The pair were described as being in their early to mid-twenties. One was about 5ft 9in, balding, and wearing a quarter length leather jacket. The other was about 6ft with blond hair and wearing a blue top.

Two men were later arrested on suspicion of causing the damage. They were released on bail.
