Littlehampton park flies the Green Flag for fifth year running

CLEAN, green, neat and trim, Littlehampton's Mewsbrook Park has again been named as one of the best in the country.

The park, which opened in the 1930s, has been handed the prestigious Green Flag award for the fifth year in a row, in recognition that it is welcoming, safe, well-maintained, and a much-loved community asset.

Arun cabinet member for environment Paul Wotherspoon said that the award was very important.

"The Green Flag awards do require a lot of hard work to achieve, but they are an independent verification that we are doing our job properly.

"How we maintain our open spaces is fundamental to preserving the character of our district.

Dedication

"A lot of people have worked hard to get this recognition. In particular I would like to thank our community groups who help maintain the parks, the council's contractors ISS Waterers and UPM Tilhill, without whose dedication we simply would not have these awards.

"Congratulations and thank you all."

The Mewsbrook Park Community Support Group is made up of residents living in the area surrounding the park, and works with the council and contractors to keep it clean and well-maintained.
