Littlehampton Museum’s latest exhibition set for take-off

Aviation artist Andrew Harris will be touching down at the Church Street facility to display his work on iconic military aeroplanes.

Andrew, who is an associate of the Guild of Aviation Artists, is no stranger to exhibiting his work in the region, with successful exhibitions in The Mall Galleries in London, and two solo displays at Shoreham Airport.

His work is created using oil paints and pencil drawings and focuses upon military aircraft from the Second World War right up to the modern day.

Alongside his artwork, Andrew thoroughly researches scenes and events to ensure that all the pieces are crafted as accurately as possible.

The research often accompanies the paintings, and gives a special insight into this rapidly-moving period of history.

Much of Andrew’s work has been signed by surviving Second World War pilots for their authentic recreation of scenes from the conflict, acting as a seal of approval of the quality of his work.

Councillor Malcolm Belchamber, chairman of Littlehampton Town Council’s community recourses committee, said Andrew’s work was ‘very impressive’

The Icons of Flight display launches on Wednesday, running until May 8.
