Lauren's busy time

Tuesday (January 5) saw Lauren Gander officially receive her gold Blue Peter badge on the programme.

She is just one of 17 people ever to receive this award and was given it because of her charity fundraising having been born with Spina Bifida.

Other people who have received this prestigious award include the Queen, David Beckah, and J.K Rowling.

It's been a busy time for 10 year old Lauren who was also invited to St James's Palace in London as part of her role as an ambassador of the charity Whizz Kidz.

A pupil at Netherfield School who lives in Whychurch Gardens, Lauren delivered a speech for the United Nations' 20th anniversary for the Rights Of The Child.

"The day was organised by 11million, which is the national organisation led by the childrens commissioner.

"Lauren received a certificate for attending, and an outstanding applause for her speech."

Mum Linda said Lauren gave a speech which was much applauded and felt like "a princess" for the entire day.
