Launch of overnight nursing service

PATIENTS across the county will now be able to be treated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with the launch of a new overnight nursing service in West Sussex.

People suffering with ill health problems, minor injuries or illnesses such as blocked catheters, chest infections or urinary tract infections and those patients needing IV therapy or palliative care can now be treated at home throughout the night with the support of trained nursing teams providing their care.

Lucy Botting, modernisation lead for West Sussex Health, West Sussex Primary Care Trust own community services provider, said: "This is a fantastic addition to the services we already provide locally.

"Our highly skilled nurses, who work as part of the overnight nursing service, can assess, diagnose, prescribe medication and put in place treatments to prevent patients from deteriorating or requiring further unnecessary visits to A&E during the night."
