Inflation-busting council fee increase to be put to cabinet

INFLATION-busting suggested increases in council fees will be put to Rother cabinet on Tuesday.

Director of services Tony Leonard is suggesting bumping up car parking charges by 15% to maximise income.

He is suggesting 10% increases for use by carnivals and fairs of open spaces with a 14% increase in damage deposits because of the cost of repairs during the wet summer of 2006.

Despite beach hut owners's protests at the last round of increases in 2006-2007, he is suggesting a 20 increase in hutfees; 10% on boat sites and winches and a 100% increase in the deck chair charge.

Despite appeals by allotments representatives, he is suggesting a 5% increase on allotments fees.
