Honour for dog owners

Training dogs and owners for 40 years is the proud claim of the Bognor Regis and District Dog Training club.

Its members celebrated their 40th anniversary at their annual Christmas party. The event was as popular as ever. Owners and their dogs packed the Felpham Village Memorial Hall.

The evening was equally enjoyed by the humans who took the opportunity to celebrate Christmas and meet their friends and the dogs who enjoyed all their favourite games.

These included the sausage retrieve where the dogs take their turn to retrieve a sausage and return it to their handler. Very few sausages survived the return journey.

The evening got underway with the traditional fun event of the dogs' fancy. This was judged by two of the club's founder members '“ Grace Morris and Pat White.

They decided the winner was Kiyo, a malamute, with his owner Valerie Blissett who carried a small Santa on his back, with saddle bags full of presents.

Training sessions will start again on January 10 and 11 at Felpham Village Memorial Hall in Vicarage Lane on Thursday and Friday evenings. Precise times depend on the class attended.
