High winds cause roof to collapse in Seaford

Strong winds caused a roof to collapse in Seaford last night.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident in Pelham Road, Seaford, at just after 8pm.

Lewes Police said in a tweet: "It's windy again tonight! #Police and #Firebrigade out dealing with collapsed roof in #Pelhamroad #Seaford, surrounding area cordoned off due to public safety!"

A fire engine can be seen at the scene, along with an aerial ladder platform.

A spokesman for East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: "We were called at 8.44pm to Pelham Road in Seaford to a four-storey building where a piece of flat roof had come away and fallen on to the path and highway.

"We sent one fire engine and an aerial ladder platform to make it safe."
