High Sheriff opens Rye charity ARRCC's big annual art exhibition

Former Rye MP Mr Foster has been a long-term supporter of the charity, which provides respite and activities for disabled adults.

The exhibition showcases the work of ARRCC users and helps raise vital funds to keep the charity going.

Irna Mortlock, from ARRCC, said: “Councillor Michael Ensor and Councillor Paul Osborne, The Chairmen of ESCC and RDC with their wives; The Mayor of Rye Jonathan Breeds and The Deputy Mayor of Rye Mike Boyd took time off to spend the whole day with us.

“The Mayors and Mayoresses of Winchelsea and Lydd spend the day with us too.

“After the official opening of the art exhibition, guests were entertained with ‘magical’ harp music from Kim Thompsett in the garden, followed by a barbecue.

“There were stalls selling plants from ARRCC’s garden, gifts and craft work made by the members in the art department and a raffle.

“Gina Williams of Hastings and Rother Charities Fair, who has been a very generous supporter of ARRCC for the past three years, was raising funds with her jewellery stall, and there were stalls with information from the RVA, Dementia Friends and Alzheimer’s.

“During the afternoon there were two performances of ‘The Clocks’, from Sam Williams’ and the Member’s Workshop. Poignant music and sound was recorded for 60 seconds for each member’s story, and then played in the theatre. The music and sounds were chosen by the members from a memory of something either very important, happy or sad from their past.”
